Career Story
2024 — One of the greatest non-World Cup seasons ever produced by an individual rugby player. Dupont won the Top 14 and European Champions Cup with Toulouse before switching codes and inspiring France Sevens to four tournament victories, including Olympic gold in Paris. He ended the campaign as World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year, completing a year of dominance rarely achieved by an entire nation, let alone a single player.
2021–2022 — Dupont won his first European Champions Cup and second Top 14 title in 2021 before being named European Player of the Year and World Rugby Player of the Year. He followed that with a record-setting performance in France's historic victory over New Zealand, then captained his country to its first Grand Slam in 12 years in 2022 while being named Six Nations Player of the Championship and making the World Rugby Dream Team for a second consecutive year.
2025–2026 — The return. After France struggled during his absence, Dupont came back from his Olympic campaign and helped deliver the 2025 Six Nations and his fifth Top 14 title. A potentially career-altering injury during the championship created renewed pressure, particularly after Maxime Lucu's emergence among the world's leading scrum-halves. Dupont returned shortly before the 2026 Six Nations and immediately led France to consecutive championships for the first time in 20 years before adding his sixth Top 14 title.

Defining Performances
Toulouse 31–22 Leinster · Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Player of the Match in a meeting between arguably two of the greatest club sides ever assembled. Facing Jamison Gibson-Park—widely considered his closest rival as the world's best scrum-half—Dupont delivered a complete performance featuring a millimetre-perfect 50:22, six defenders beaten and multiple decisive jackal penalties. His extra-time brilliance proved that a scrum-half could control every dimension of a final simultaneously.
France 28–7 Fiji · Stade de France
Introduced from the bench as France's impact player, Dupont transformed the Olympic final. He created one try and scored two himself, decisively shifting the match into France's control and delivering the host nation an historic Olympic gold medal.
France 25–13 England · Stade de France
Scored the crucial second-half try that secured France's first Grand Slam in 12 years. The performance crowned his first championship as captain and cemented his status as the best player in world rugby.
France 40–25 New Zealand · Stade de France
Delivered a masterclass in one of France's defining modern victories, dictating the tempo as Les Bleus defeated the All Blacks for the first time since 2009. The result announced France's return to rugby's highest level and Dupont as the central force behind it.

Career Assessment
Dupont is the best scrum-half currently playing, the greatest scrum-half of all time and one of the greatest rugby players in history. Many already consider him the greatest player the sport has produced. His technical completeness, adaptability across 15s and Sevens, individual awards and relentless trophy-winning record have taken him beyond positional comparisons. The only major achievement preventing him from becoming rugby's undisputed GOAT is the Rugby World Cup—the final remaining hurdle in an otherwise virtually complete career.

Player Profile
Antoine Gilbert Louis Dupont is a French scrum-half capable of operating at fly-half and performing virtually every responsibility found on a rugby pitch. His breakdown ability rivals world-class flankers, his defensive strength and tackling technique compare with elite forwards, and his speed, support running and finishing make him a terrifying try-scoring threat. Equally dangerous with either foot, Dupont can control territory through pinpoint kicking and spectacular 50:22s while possessing the vision to identify opportunities before they fully develop. He has no meaningful weakness: he can dictate, create, finish, defend, jackal, kick and transform the rhythm of a match. His extraordinary transition into Sevens reinforced that reputation. In a single campaign, he helped a France side that had endured years without tournament success win every competition he entered, including Olympic gold, before being named the world's best Sevens player. Combined with his World Rugby Player of the Year award in the 15-a-side game, countless tournament selections and an all-time trophy cabinet, Dupont has already created one of rugby's greatest careers.
