Who is responsible for your information?
Rugby One is operated by J Foley, who is responsible for the personal information Rugby One controls. Email privacy@rugbyone.co.uk for privacy questions or requests. For operator and contact information, see Further details.
Information we collect
When you register or sign in, Clerk processes your sign-in details and authentication information. Rugby One uses an account reference to connect your supporter profile and activity. Profile information can include your username, public supporter tag, profile image, biography, banner, followed teams and players, and other saved preferences.
Using social or Clubhouse features creates records of friendships, invitations, conversation membership, messages, votes, predictions, points and relevant account activity. We receive the information you send through contact forms or email, including your email address, message and any page link or name you provide.
Our hosting, authentication and security providers process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, request times and error or security records. Optional audience analytics is described separately below. Please avoid sending passwords, verification codes, identity documents or payment details in ordinary messages.
How and why we use information
- Requested account services: sign-in, saved preferences, social features and Clubhouse participation. We use information necessary to provide these requested services under our agreement with you.
- Service operation and support: answering enquiries, correcting rugby information, keeping the service reliable and investigating misuse. Our legitimate interests are running and securing Rugby One and helping its users; these interests must be balanced against your rights.
- Optional analytics: your consent allows audience measurement and aggregate reporting to help improve Rugby One and explain its audience to potential sponsors. Refusal does not restrict account or browsing features.
- Legal obligations: where a specific legal requirement applies, we use information needed to meet it, including handling applicable information-rights requests.
We do not sell personal information. This setup does not add behavioural advertising, Google advertising profiles or cross-site remarketing. Reading this notice or creating an account is not consent to optional analytics.
What other people can see
Your username, supporter tag and profile image can appear in friend discovery, conversations, Clubhouse activity and leaderboards where relevant. Profile images use publicly accessible image URLs. Only upload information and images you are comfortable sharing on those surfaces.
Messages are intended for authorised conversation participants. Participants can copy or share what they receive, so do not treat a private conversation as a guarantee of secrecy. We do not describe messaging as end-to-end encrypted. Access restrictions and blocking do not necessarily erase records or copies another person already holds.
Access to account administration is permission controlled. Some in-app message-reporting and staff-investigation features are not enabled; contact support@rugbyone.co.uk if you need help. Do not include unrelated conversation history or other people’s sensitive information in an initial report.
Service providers and international processing
Our providers include Clerk for authentication; Neon for application records; Vercel for website hosting and supporter-image storage; Resend for contact-form email delivery; and Google Workspace for our mailboxes. Cloudflare manages our domains and DNS, and provider security services may also use Cloudflare. Google Analytics is used only when you allow it.
Providers receive information relevant to their services and may also process technical or account data for their own security and administration. Information may be processed outside the UK. Transfer protections depend on the provider, processing location and applicable agreement; these can include UK-recognised adequacy arrangements or contractual safeguards. You can ask us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
Provider information: Clerk, Neon, Vercel, Resend, Google and Cloudflare.
We may disclose relevant information where legally required or necessary to handle a legal claim. Public rugby information may come from organisers, teams, published reporting and other public sources; see Data & coverage to report a correction.
How long information is kept
Account and preference records support your account while you use it. Participation and relationship records also support results, account history, shared conversations and the integrity of published standings. Retention depends on those purposes, unresolved support or security issues and any applicable legal requirement; closing a browser or signing out does not delete those records.
Ordinary message access expires 12 calendar months after each message. That visibility limit is not a promise that every physical copy is automatically purged at that time. Automated account-erasure and message-purge processing are not currently active. Contact our privacy address to request deletion or information about records still held.
Routine enquiries are manually reviewed 12 months after closure, deleting those no longer needed. Unresolved matters and information still needed for a justified legal, support or security purpose may be kept longer. Provider logs, backups and delivery records have separate provider-controlled retention arrangements; they do not all disappear when an item stops appearing on the site.
Analytics consent is remembered for six calendar months. Google Analytics cookies are configured for approximately six months; user/event-level analytics retention is configured for 14 months with activity reset off. Aggregate reports have different retention behaviour. Read Cookies & analytics for detail.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can edit supported profile settings and change optional analytics through . Withdrawing analytics consent stops future collection; it does not automatically erase data already received.
Depending on the processing and applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email privacy@rugbyone.co.uk. These requests are handled manually; a request is not confirmation that deletion has already happened.
We may ask for proportionate information to verify that a request concerns your account, and explain any information that must be retained or any applicable exception. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not have to contact us first to exercise that right.
Younger supporters
Public rugby pages can be browsed without an account. Supporter accounts are intended for people aged 13 and over. This is an account-use rule, not a claim that everyone’s age is verified or that social features are suitable for every younger visitor.
Keep home addresses, school details and other sensitive personal information out of profiles and chats. If you are worried about an account, message or use of a child’s information, contact privacy@rugbyone.co.uk or support@rugbyone.co.uk. This notice does not replace the additional safeguards younger users need.
